You don’t have to.
You don’t have to start that project you’ve been thinking about for the past few months.
You don’t have to start reading that book you bought last year (or your friend lent to you two months ago!).
You don’t have to ask for feedback on that last project because you know they weren’t happy with it.
You don’t have to make that phone call, just tell your boss they didn’t answer, she’ll never know.
You don’t have to disagree with everyone even though you know you are right, conforming is easier.
You don’t have to take the blame for a client’s mistake even though it wasn’t your fault.
You don’t have to help someone out even though you know that have no money to pay you.
You don’t have to stay positive, you can put others down to make yourself look good.
You don’t have to start painting again, it takes too much time to set up even though it’s the one place you can be creative.
You don’t have to start volunteering somewhere because every new years, that resolution goes unfulfilled.
You don’t have to start that video blog because some voice keeps telling you you’re horrible on camera.
You don’t have to follow through on what you say, over-promising and under-delivering is very easy.
You don’t have to go to the gym today because it is much, much easier not to.
You don’t have to chase your dream job, six figures should be able to buy you happiness, right?
You don’t have to do the work.
You can ‘just get by’. It’s safe, you’re not going to fail very much and your yearly vacation should make up for the monotony of your safe life. But I would guess you aren’t going to be that happy either. A life without passion, motivation and love is something I can’t be a part of.
The next time you know you don’t have to, do it anyway, see what happens.
